Vantage Pro 2: maximum and minimum temperature

Beitrag von jackT »

Hello,
With the Vantage Pro and wswin, at least 3 temperature sensors (outside) are available : temperature outdoor, temperature outdoor min. and temperature outdoor max.
The minimal and maximal temperature measured by the Vantage Pro between two data recordings are correctly imported into wswin into the min and max temp. sensors, but I have observed that these values are not used by Wswin for outside temperature statistics.
For example, in the following table http://lacombe.dyndns.org/meteo/2006/20060717.htm, at 15h40, the outside temperature was 28.4°C, and the maximal temp. measured during the last 10 minute period was 28.9°C. But as shown by the NOAA report generated by wswin, http://lacombe.dyndns.org/meteo/noaa200607.txt, the max temperature sensor is not used for statistics, and the maximum temperature reported for July 17 is 28.4 °C and not 28.9°C

My question : is it possible to use data from min and max temp sensors for outside temperature statistics?

If it is not possible, I would like to suggest to Werner to modify the calculation of temperature statistics to take into account the min. and max. temp sensors data.

Regards

Hello Jack,
perhaps you do the following:
"Weather station - special sensors # 1" and here choose for "Sensor dewpoint" your MaxSensor Out

Hello Werner,
Thanks for your suggestion. This would allow the correct calculation of max temperature statistics, but in that case not of the minimum. temperature : if the value of the min. outside temp sensor is lower than the value of the outside temperature sensor, the minimum temperature statistics will not be correctly calculated...

Hello Jack,
that's true, but I see no other way. Perhaps Werner can solve the "problem"

Hi Jack,

you could set the archive interval to 1 minute, so the value of the outside temperature sensor will match the maximum or minimum values very closely. I have never noticed a difference of more than 0.2 °C in the last year.

Of course it is only a workaround until (hopefully) Werner will change the calculations for Vantage users.

Hi Christian,

For various reasons, and to keep the calculation times of the dynamic graphics of my site not too long (wswin data are exported into a MySQL database), I prefer keeping an archive interval of 10 min...

Hi Jack,

You can use %maxvalday[7]% and %minvalday[6]% in the template line for day max/min, %maxval[7]% and %minval[6]% for max/min month.

If you want, I can send you a custom month template (still some work to do on it, but gives a summary with last year comparison almost all params)

Greetings,

Stéphane

Good idea Steph,
I have just replaced the tags used for the noaa templates, and my temperature page.
I will then design my own custom statistics page (I was using the month and year statistics produced by wswin) using also these tags for min and max temperature calculation.

But still... longterm values for instance will still be calculated by wswin by ignoring the min and max temp sensors....

Thanks

Steph

Glad it helped. And yes, for the calculations the "problem" is in the hands of Werner...

I have also began my own stats pages, for my own pleasure as i have no web site. Maybe can we exchange some tips (in french) ?

Very nice site !

Regards,

Steph
